PROGRAM
The meeting point and starting point for the Ortler ascent on skis is the Drei Brunnen car park near Trafoi. (An alternative meeting point can be agreed upon when booking, and we will travel to the starting point together.)
After a brief gear check, we climb to the Berglhütte, where there is the option of staying overnight and splitting this long tour into two days. (From the car park, approximately 2 hours / 600 meters of elevation gain)
The next day, from the hut, we climb another 1,800 meters of elevation gain to South Tyrol's highest peak at 3,905 meters.
Through the key section at the Eisgulne (ice gully), we continue to the Bärenloch (Berne Hole) and up to the Kanzel (pulpit), where the bivouac is located. The route continues over the Oberer Ortlerferner (upper Ortler Glacier) to the summit.
The descent follows the ascent trail to the Berglhütte. Then, depending on the snow conditions, we return to the starting point at the Drei Brunnen either through the Pleissenbach Gorge or along the summer path.
A fantastic, yet long and challenging ski tour to the highest peak in Tyrol – as the Ortler was formerly called at the time of its first ascent in 1804.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
