PROGRAM
Day 1: Arrival in Lima
We will fly individually to Lima and meet there – or together if possible, depending on the departure airport (flight time: 18 hours).
Day 2: Transfer Lima - Huaraz
We will travel by bus from Lima over the Concocha Pass, over 4,000 meters high, to the mountaineering town of Huaraz at 3,100 meters. From here, we will begin our multi-day expeditions.
Days 3 - 5: Acclimatization Tours
In the coming days, we will undertake some shorter acclimatization tours to beautiful lagoons at the foot of the high peaks and complete some final errands in the city. We will always stay overnight at a hotel in Huaraz.
Day 6 - Day 14: Ishinca Valley
Once we feel well acclimatized, we will set off with our Peruvian guides to the Ishinca Valley, where we will climb a total of three peaks over the next eight days: Urus Peak, Ishinca, and the 6,034-meter-high Tocclaraju. We will set up our base camp at the end of the Ishinca Valley. We will also establish a high camp for both the Ishinca and Tocclaraju climbs, from where we will ascend the peaks.
Day 15: Rest Day
A free day follows in Huaraz to relax and recharge for the highlight of this expedition: the ascent of Alpamayo.
Days 16 - 21: Santa Cruz Valley
After the rest day, we will head back into the mountains for a total of six days. This time we're heading to the Santa Cruz Valley. After a two-day hike, we will reach our base camp at the foot of Alpamayo. This will be followed by the establishment of another moraine camp before ascending to 5,500 meters, where we will set up our high camp in spectacular surroundings directly below Alpamayo. On summit day, we will depart from the high camp and ascend the French Direct Route, which has an incline of up to 70°. We will then abseil down the ice channel again and spend another night at the high camp before dismantling it and returning to base camp. The next day, we will leave the Santa Cruz Valley and return to Huaraz.
Day 22: Huaraz - Lima
Then it's time to say goodbye to Peru and its wonderful mountains and hospitable people. The bus will take us back to Lima.
Day 23: Return flight
After a short stay in Lima, with the opportunity to gain a brief insight into this chaotic metropolis, we fly back home.
