Valpelline - ski touring trip: Valpelline in the Aosta Valley offers mountain scenery of the highest order. It lies directly south of the four-thousand-metre peaks of the Valais such as Grand Combin, Dent d'Hérens and the Matterhorn. Accordingly, the mountains are wild and impressive.
Even so, Valpelline offers wonderful touring options that are suitable for beginners, while also – depending on the choice of tour – being demanding and long. The valley is barely developed for tourism. There are no ski pistes or lift facilities.
On the tours, you will encounter only a few people. The surrounding mountains are simply too prominent and alluring – and that is precisely what gives this beautiful valley an almost cleansing feel. At our accommodation, we will be treated to typical regional specialities and excellent cuisine. A ski touring week that leaves hardly anything to be desired.

Requirements
- Climbs of 1,100 - 1,500 meters (3-4 hours)
- Skiing on the slopes (parallel turns) should be no problem, allowing you to manage even in deep snow.

PROGRAM
Day 1: Journey into the valley
Together or separately, we travel to the Aosta Valley, and from the capital of this autonomous region of Italy we head into the long valley towards the main Alpine ridge. The mountains grow ever higher, the landscape rougher and more forbidding. This is exactly the right place for strong ski touring days in an area that whets the appetite for more from the very approach.
Day 2-6: Ski tours in Valpelline
Over the coming days, we make full use of the many touring options in Valpelline, setting out directly from our accommodation. With the high peaks all around, there is plenty to see and marvel at during the tours. It is hard to believe what beautiful slopes for skiing lie between these rocky mountain giants. We draw on the valley’s wealth of ski touring possibilities and can usually enjoy having the mountains largely to ourselves. Hardly any other ski tourers find their way to this wonderful corner of the world. Depending on conditions and the group, we choose suitable objectives – sometimes relaxed and enjoyable, sometimes a little longer and more demanding, but always with that special character of the valley. At the end of the tours, we are welcomed back to our accommodation with Italian hospitality and spoiled with local delicacies.
Day 7: Journey home
After a week, it is unfortunately already time to say goodbye to Valpelline. With lovely memories and many great photos from our ski tours, we begin the journey home – probably with the thought of returning to this wild valley again very soon.

The exact packing list will be sent with the confirmation email. Naturally, important items include your ski touring equipment and suitable clothing. Missing equipment can be hired from Südtirolalpin for a small wear-and-tear fee.
