Sarntal Hufeisen Tour: The Hufeisen Tour takes its name from the course of the route, which, in the shape of a horseshoe, crosses the entire mountain landscape of the rustic and natural Sarntal Alps, in the heart of South Tyrol.

PROGRAM
Day 1: Sarnthein - Rittner Horn
We meet in Sarnthein at the large parking lot north of the sports center. From there, a taxi will take us approximately 10 km into the Tanzbach Valley. Our 7-day circular tour through the beautiful and largely unspoiled Sarntal Alps begins at the hamlet of Windlahn. We follow the second trail to the Rittner Horn, the first destination of this week.
4 hours – ↑ 1,000 meters in elevation gain – ↓ 50 meters in elevation gain – 8.5 km
Day 2: Rittner Horn - Latzfonser Kreuz
The second day takes us from the Rittner Horn House across the expansive plateaus of the Villanderer Alm to one of the highest pilgrimage sites in Europe, the Latzfonser Kreuz.
6 hours – ↑ 700 meters elevation gain – ↓ 650 meters elevation gain – 16 km
Day 3: Latzfonser Kreuz - Marburger Hütte
From the Latzfonser Kreuz, we pass the Ritzlar and reach the Forcellascharte ridge. We then follow trails no. 5 and no. 13 to the Tellerjoch and further past the Jakobsspitze to the Marburger Hütte (Flaggerschartenhütte).
5 hours – ↑ 650 meters elevation gain – ↓ 500 meters elevation gain – 10.5 km
Day 4: Marburger Hütte - Penser Joch
The fourth stage takes us from the Marburger Hütte past the Hörtlaner and Tagewaldhorn peaks to the Astenberg and beyond to the Penser Joch. Here we will spend the night at the Gasthof Alpenrose. Here we have reached the northernmost point of the Horseshoe Tour.
4 hours – ↑ 500 meters elevation gain – ↓ 700 meters elevation gain – 9.5 km
Day 5: Penser Joch - Weissenbach
From day 5, we head south again on the other side of the Sarntal Valley in the western part of the Sarntal Alps. We follow trail no. 12A below the Röthenspitze and then pass the Sarner Weisshorn. Over the Gerölljoch, we reach the Oberbergalm and through the Oberbergtal Valley to Weissenbach. Here we will spend one night at the Hotel Edelweiss (or similar accommodation).
5 hours – ↑ 400 meters elevation gain – ↓ 1,300 meters elevation gain – 12 km
Day 6: Weissenbach - Meraner Hütte
Today, a taxi will take us from Weissenbach to Aberstückl, where we set off on foot towards the Meraner Hütte at the end of the road. We first follow trail no. 7A until it joins trail no. 4 after the Antranalm. We follow this trail to the Missensteiner Joch and soon reach the Meraner Hütte.
4.5 hours – ↑ 700 meters elevation gain – ↓ 300 meters elevation gain – 10 km
Day 7: Meraner Hütte - Sarnthein
The final stage of the horseshoe tour through the Sarntal Alps takes us from the Meraner Hütte to the Kreuzjoch and further to the Stoanernen Mandln. A beautiful peak that lives up to its name. From the Stoanernen Mandln, the final section takes us down to the Sarner Skihütte. A taxi will pick us up here and take us back to our cars.
