ABOUT THE TOUR
Tour du Ciel – Ski Traverse of the Valais Alps: 5 exceptional days of high-altitude ski touring and the great names of the Valais mountains within easy reach. That's one way to briefly describe this fantastic ski traverse. But this single sentence definitely doesn't do justice to the diversity and variety we'll experience during these days. New and unusual perspectives of the wintery four-thousand-meter peaks make the ascents fly by every day, and with good snow conditions, vast glacier expanses offer plenty of space to glide down into the valley in deep powder. A "heavenly tour," as the fitting name of this ski traverse already suggests. Often referred to as the Haute Route of the Valais Alps, the Tour du Ciel is far more than that and can easily rival – if not surpass – the classic ski traverse from Chamonix to Zermatt in terms of experience, scenery, and challenges. A tour that ski traverse enthusiasts should absolutely not miss.

PROGRAM
Day 1: Breithorn - Schönbielhütte
We meet at approximately 8:00 AM (the exact meeting point will be announced shortly) at the Zermatt train station. Together, we'll take the cable car up to the Klein Matterhorn, then climb the technically easy summit of the Breithorn (4,164 m) to acclimatize. Afterward, we'll enjoy our first long descent. To reach our destination for the day, however, we'll have to tackle another climb through the magnificent scenery directly below the Matterhorn to the Schönbielhütte.
↑ 700 m - ↓ 1,800 m
Day 2: Col Durand - Cabane du Mountet
Day 2 takes us over the Col Durand, with its first technically challenging sections, deeper into the magnificent mountain world of the Valais. We'll reach our destination, the Cabane du Mountet, after a descent across the glacier. A short climb then leads us to our final destination.
↑ 1,200 m - ↓ 1,000 m
Day 3: Blanc du Moming - Cabanne Tracuit
On the third day of the Tour du Ciel, we ascend the Blanc du Moming. An impressive snow ridge, the "Arrete du Blanc," awaits us as we attempt to reach the summit. We carve our turns across the glacier during the subsequent descent, enjoying another breathtaking panorama before the real challenge begins: the climb to the Col de Milon. A short descent follows, and we put our skins back on to reach our destination for the day, the Cabanne Tracuit.
↑ 1,700 m - ↓ 1,100 m
Day 4: Bishorn - Turtmannhütte
Today, our next skiable 4,000-meter peak is on the agenda: the Bishorn. We reach the summit via the Turtmann Glacier, enjoying breathtaking views of virtually all the four-thousand-meter peaks of the Valais Alps, as well as the north ridge that leads directly to the Weisshorn. A long, fantastic descent awaits us to reach the Turtmann Hut.
↑ 1,100 m - ↓ 1,700 m
Day 5: Wasuhorn - Weiler Jungen - Cable car to St. Niklaus
The last day of this magnificent Tour du Ciel has arrived. First, we reach the Jungtaljoch pass, before a short descent and subsequent climb bring us to our final summit: the Wasuhorn. A final, fantastic descent on the north face, covering almost 1,400 vertical meters, is the perfect ending to a superb ski traverse. This unforgettable experience, thanks to the unique impressions of this breathtaking mountain landscape and the hard work of gaining altitude, will hopefully remain a cherished memory for a long time to come.
↑ 1,000 m - ↓ 1,500 m
