ABOUT THE TOUR
Turnerkamp - South Ridge (V): Located directly on the main Alpine ridge in the Zillertal Alps is one of South Tyrol's most beautiful granite climbing routes. A varied boulder climb on the finest granite. Exposed and garnished with some tough passages of grade IV and a crux of grade V, it leads to a beautiful panoramic mountain in the Tauferer Ahrntal Valley. Starting from the South Tyrolean side (parking at the Neves reservoir), the climb leads from the south over the long rocky ridge that separates the "Eastern Nößferner" from the "Trattenbachkees" in sunny and, for the most part, enjoyable climbing to the summit of Turnerkamp. Combined with a long abseil (9 abseils) via the Engländerrinne gully down to the glacier and the subsequent descent over the glaciated surfaces, this is a more than varied tour that offers just about everything you could expect from a complete mountain experience. And all this away from the crowds. Mountaineer's heart, what more could you want?!

PROGRAM
Day 1: Independent ascent to the Chemnitzer Hut
The starting point and parking lot for this tour is at the Neves Reservoir at the head of the Mühlwalder Valley (a side valley of the Ahrntal Valley) above Lappach. From the parking lot, follow the marked trail (No. 24) to the Chemnitzer Hut on the Növesjoch Pass. The ascent takes approximately 1.5 hours and involves a climb of almost 600 meters.
Day 2: Meeting with the mountain guide and ascent to Turnerkamp (via the South Ridge - V)
Early in the morning, we will meet directly at the hut and set off together towards the start of the South Ridge on the Turnerkamp. Soon, the terrain becomes pathless and we reach the notch where the climbing along the South Ridge begins. Here, we rope up and follow the magnificent granite on an entertaining climb. The ascent along the ridge is enjoyable. With several sections of difficulty grade IV, we continue to ascend higher and higher. The crux of the route is a grade V slab, covering approximately two-thirds of the route. We'll be challenged at a steady pace all the way to the summit, just enough to allow us to truly enjoy the summit and the breathtaking panorama of the main Alpine ridge. This is followed by a rappelling route (9 abseils in total) via the Engländerrinne (English Channel) down to the glacier and back to the Chemnitzer Hut.
*As a day tour without overnight stay:
For very fit mountaineers and fast climbers, this tour can also be done as a day tour without overnight stay. However, the 600 additional meters of elevation gain make the tour a very long and demanding one, with 1,700 meters of elevation gain, much of which is on pathless terrain. We recommend an overnight stay at the very well-managed Chemnitzer Hut.
The price for a day tour remains the same.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
