ABOUT THE TOUR
Watzmann - East Face: The longest wall in the entire Eastern Alps. 1,800 meters of wall height must be conquered. A total of more than 2,000 meters of elevation gain from Königssee to the summit. A tremendous adventure for any alpine climber. The route's difficulty doesn't exceed grade III. Surefootedness and personal responsibility are required for long stretches of the tour. The biggest challenge is finding the way, but I'll take care of that so you can fully enjoy this truly unique experience of climbing such a massive wall. Another special feature of the Watzmann East Face is the Ice Chapel. It is the deepest permanent ice field in the Alps. A tour packed with superlatives and highlights.

PROGRAM
Day 1: East Face Camp
We will meet in the afternoon (around 3 p.m.) at the parking lot at the entrance to the Wimbach Valley (between Ramsau and Schönau). We'll leave one car there and continue to Schönau am Königssee, where we'll purchase a ticket for the trip to St. Bartholomä at the boat launch point at Seelände. Afterwards, we'll take one of the last ferry crossings to spend the night at the East Face Camp.
Day 2: Watzmann East Face
Thanks to our crossing the previous day, we're no longer dependent on ferry times and can tackle this long face early in the morning. This gives us plenty of time to enjoy this breathtaking face. We descend along the Berchtesgadenerweg trail past the Ice Chapel and the bivouac directly toward the summit. From the summit, we enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. We begin our descent through the Wimbach Valley and reach the parking lot where we parked our second car.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
