ABOUT THE TOUR
Zufallspitze and Cevedale - Normal Route: The twin peaks of Zufallspitze and Cevedale can be climbed from Martell as a beautiful traverse. These two peaks, which are among the highest in the Eastern Alps, are accessible without too much technical difficulty. Yet they offer an impressive glacier and mountain experience in an area of great historical interest in South Tyrol, with many relics from the First World War front.

PROGRAM
We meet either in Hintermartell, at the parking lot of the cable car for the Zufall Hut, or directly at the hut.
The ascent to the hut takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
In the evening, we relax at the Marteller Hut and discuss the final details of our upcoming tour the next day.
Early in the morning, after a hearty breakfast, we set off and climb over the Fürkeleferner to the rocky ridge and further to the Zufallspitze. From there, we follow the snow ridge further to the Cevedale. A stunning view with a wonderful panorama of the trio of Königsspitze, Zebru, and Ortler awaits us at the highest point. The tour also offers impressive glacier expanses and a fantastic high-altitude touring experience, which is also suitable for fit beginners due to its relatively moderate difficulty.
We descend via the Zufallferner and return to the Marteller Hut.
Tip: On the way back to the Marteller Hut, you have the opportunity to stop by the Three Cannons. An impressive example of the enormous effort expended on the ultimately senseless fighting on the Ortler Front. The cannons were spoils of war from the Battle of Isonzo in 1917, abandoned by the Italian army. It took four months of hard work to bring the 6-ton guns up here from Martell by the Austro-Hungarian artillery command. They were disassembled into three parts and loaded onto wooden sledges. 120 men then harnessed these sledges to pull them over the Zufallferner glacier up to an altitude of almost 3,275 meters and into position on the Eiskofel. From June 2018, this made previously unreachable Italian positions possible at the Hochjoch, Ortler Pass, Trafoier Eiswand, Passo dei Volontari, Passo dei Camosci Basso, Passo del Zebru, and Baita del Pastore.
Any changes to the program that may be necessary for various reasons (weather, conditions, accommodation booking situation, etc.) will always be made in consultation with the participants.
